Opening its doors in 1904, Pullman Yard started out as Pratt Engineering. It started out as a parts manufacturer (ie motors) for sugar and fertilizer processing plants and later down the line the propery made munitions that were used by soldiers in WWI.
It wasn’t until 1922, when the Chicago- based Pullman Company purchased the property and Pratt-Engineering became Pullman Yard. The property then served as a train repair station.
Unfortunately in 1954, Pullman closed the doors to their Atlanta, Ga shop. Through the 70s-90s the property had several owners. Finally in 1992 the state of Georgia purchased the property for 1.6 million and made it the home of the New Georgia Railroad Train. For the past few, recent years Pullman Yard has become a canvas for the local an some not local graffiti artists, and also a pretty cool movie location.
